24 Hour
Vehicle Recovery

One call, any hour of any day. We recover across Gibraltar and over the border into Spain, and we are the recovery agents ARAG send when their customers break down here.

ARAG Official agents for ARAG recovery services If your cover is with ARAG, tell them where you are — the truck that turns up is ours.

Which truck turns up

Flatbed or spec-lift?

There are two ways to move a vehicle that can't drive, and they suit different jobs. When you ring, tell us what the car is and where it is stuck, and we'll bring the right one.

The tilting alloy deck of Altimore's Citroën Relay flatbed, with the winch and headboard.

Flatbed

The deck tilts and slides to the ground, the vehicle is winched on, and it travels with all four wheels off the road.

  • Best for low or sporting cars, anything with body damage, four-wheel drive, automatics, and vehicles that shouldn't be towed on their own wheels
  • Best for a car that has been in an accident, where nothing should take load
  • Needs a bit of room to tilt the bed and winch straight

Spec-lift

An underlift arm slides under one axle and lifts it. The vehicle is towed on its other two wheels.

  • Best for tight spots — car parks, underground bays, narrow lanes, a car boxed in where a flatbed can't get a run at it
  • Quicker to hook up and away, which matters when a car is blocking a road
  • Not for every vehicle — some drivetrains have to go on a flatbed instead

Not sure which you need?

Then don't worry about it — that's our job. Ring the 24 hour line, say what the car is and where it is, and we will bring the right truck.

While you wait

Four sensible things

General roadside advice. Your own safety comes before the car, always.

Get clear of the traffic

Hazards on. If it is safe to do so, get everyone out of the vehicle and behind a barrier or well off the carriageway — not sitting in the car and not standing in the road.

Work out exactly where you are

A road name, a building, a car park level and bay number, or a dropped pin from your phone. The faster we can place you, the faster the truck gets there.

Have the details to hand

Registration, make and model, and what happened — won't start, warning light, flat battery, accident damage, wheels won't turn. It tells us which truck to send.

Find your cover, if you have any

If you are covered through ARAG or your insurer, have the policy number ready. We are official ARAG agents, so that route often runs straight through us anyway.
